The Dhaka Metro Rail is a rapid transit system that serves the capital city of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is owned and operated by the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). The Dhaka Metro, in conjunction with a proposed subway system, aims to alleviate traffic congestion within the city. This initiative is a crucial component of the Strategic Transport Plan outlined by the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA).

The network is designed to consist of six lines, with the initial portion of MRT Line 6 commencing commercial operations on December 29, 2022. The construction of the second section of MRT Line 6 is projected to be finished by 2023. Additionally, the third phase of development, which will include interchange points with Line 1, Line 2, and Line 4, is anticipated to be completed by 2026. There are also plans for further expansion of MRT Line 6 with the goal of extending it to Tongi in Gazipur metropolitan and Savar Upazila.
