Merger of Airtel Bangladesh Limited and Robi Axiata Limited

The merger of mobile network operators Airtel Bangladesh Limited (a concern of Bharti Airtel Limited, a leading global telecommunications services provider) and Robi Axiata Limtied (joint venture between Axiata Group Berhad, Malaysia and NTT DoCoMo Inc, Japan) to create the country’s second largest player in telecommunications, behind market leader Grameenphone. The merger is being carried out in order to develop the potential for further growth and expansion of the market and to improve synergies, optimize resources and increase fund raising capabilities.
